Maintenance and Load-Shedding Background
KPLC regularly conducts maintenance to ensure its infrastructure is reliable and meets customer expectations. The scheduled work prevents long-term disruptions by addressing technical issues in advance.
Load-shedding, a method to manage power supply during high demand, has been implemented in the past to prevent overloads and ensure consistent electricity for critical areas. For instance, in 2023, Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir revealed that unexpected surges in power flow along the Juja-Lessos-Muhoroni link caused transformer overloads and subsequent outages.
