NEA Recruitment Campaign to Begin in Nyeri, February 2025

(Nyeri) – The State Department for Labour and Skills Development, through the National Employment Authority (NEA), will launch a nationwide recruitment campaign for job seekers starting February 3, 2025, in Nyeri County.

Sheila Kiganka, Principal Employment Officer for Nyeri County, announced that the government is calling on individuals with professional or technical skills to register on the NEA portal ahead of the large-scale recruitment initiative.

The programme will target a broad range of fields, including nursing, carpentry, driving, plumbing, engineering, teaching, and beauty services. Kiganka confirmed that 1,690 Nyeri County residents have already registered. “We are running a programme across all counties as part of phase one of the national job recruitment initiative, which began in Machakos,” Kiganka said.

The NEA aims to link job seekers with both domestic and international opportunities. Registration is free and open to both employers and job seekers via the NEA portal, as mandated by the Employment Act of 2007.

Kiganka explained that the recruitment is part of a collaborative effort between national and county governments, involving agencies such as the Youth Fund, tertiary institutions, and small businesses. The initiative aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030 Economic Pillar, aiming to address high unemployment rates by connecting skilled workers with vacancies.

The official launch will take place at Nyeri National Polytechnic. Those who miss out in the initial phase will be considered in future exercises, ensuring inclusivity.

Kiganka emphasized that 90% of selected candidates are expected to secure employment abroad, particularly in countries such as the UK, US, Germany, Australia, Qatar, Canada, and Saudi Arabia. These nations are actively recruiting technical professionals to fill labor shortages.
